Precast/Prestressed Girder Help

Program Options

Note: These are global program settings, valid for any data file loaded.)

This command allows the user to specify a default file name and is accessible by selecting the Preferences item from the Show menu. Any previous saved settings will be stored in this specified default file, such as project information (i.e., Design, Code, Units and Span Type), geometry, materials, loads, analysis factors, and project parameters.

A default folder name can be specified. The program by default saves and opens data files from the Precast/Prestressed Girder program folder. You can specify a default folder name other than the Precast/Prestressed Girder program folder.

The Enhanced Design Status option allows you to choose the format of the reports.

When Run Girder-by-Girder Analysis option is selected, and the following criteria are satisfied, the program will run the analysis using the length from each individual girder; otherwise, the program will use the span length measured along the center line of deck between two bents in the related analysis. The requirements for running Girder-by-Girder Analysis are:

  • Flared Girder option is checked.

  • Same number of girders in all spans.

  • At least one of the following two conditions are met: (a) differences in Beam Length in a span exceed 10% of the longer length; (b) the difference between the start spacing and the end spacing for any girder exceeds 50% of the lower spacing.

Current Data File Options

Note: These options are specific to the currently loaded data file only.)

If the option for Auto run analysis if needed by Beam Tab Page is checked, the program automatically runs analysis without the user having to explicitly click on Run Analysis in the Analysis tab.

When the Keep Analysis Factors Input Manually field is checked, the user input/manual Distribution Factors will be retained even if changes are made in the Geometry tab that may typically cause automatic computations of distribution factors. Please note that this option is specific to the current data file only and must be specifically set for each data file you want to use this feature for.

If the Retain Beam Level Changes option is checked, the program allows you to retain the items modified at beam level on the Data Modification screen and not overwrite them with information from the Project Parameters dialog every tie the analysis is rerun.
